Every gamer who grew up playing LucasArts games in the '90s loved the Monkey Island series. With the recent closure of LucasArts, what does that mean for another Monkey Island adventure? Nothing. But original creator Ron Gilbert chimes in on what he'd do with another entry.

On his blog, Gilbert lists some of things he'd improv on if he were working on another Monkey Island game. Which he isn't. But if he was, the next game would harken back to the days of Monkey Island 1 & 2, complete with "enhanced retro art."

He'd still make it a hardcore adventure game. He would rebuild the SCUMM language. It would be made with a small team of about 10 programmers, and it would be called monkey Island 3a, since he doesn't consider anything after Monkey island 2 to be canon in the series (he left after the 2nd one).

Unfortunately, Gilbert would have to actually own the IP to work on another installment. He says he'd want gamers to be able to make their own Monkey Island adventures. And last but not least, there would be no copies available for the press.

Well, that sucks.
