Ever want to play a shoot 'em-up where you can dock with the enemy mother ship and destroy it from the inside? Velocity 2X has you covered.

James Marsden, the managing director at FuturLab, has announced on the PlayStation Blog that Velocity 2X is coming to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita at the end of the summer. 2X is the sequel to Velocity Ultra, and it will feature two classic genres spliced into a seamless experience. As you can tell by the trailer, Velocity 2X features top-down shoot 'em-up gameplay, similar to the Raiden series, but it also features 2D, side-scrolling platforming mixed with puzzle mechanics. This leads to an interesting combination. Let's say your ship fights through the enemy forces and takes on the mother ship. Once its weakened, you can actually land your vessel in the mother ship and destroy it from the inside on foot. On foot, there is teleporting, tele-dashing, telepods, bosses and amazing gun play that is just as engaging as Velocity's ship combat.

Velocity 2X launches on Sept. 2 for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. The game will provide both cross-save and cross-buy features across both the Vita and PS4.
