Ubisoft has been blinded by the bright lights of Hollywood, and now has its sights set on making movies based on the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon franchise.

Film adaptations of video games haven't always been that successful, but that hasn't stopped Ubisoft from working out deals with studios to adapt some of its franchises into major motion pictures. Tom Hardy is attached to star as Sam Fisher in a Splinter Cell film, and Michael Fassbender will star and produce an Assassin's Creed feature, though the plot of that adaptation is anyone's guess.

As if those weren't enough, the LA Times reported Ubisoft now has designs of bringing the Ghost Recon franchise to the silver screen. The publisher is currently pitching the idea around, though it's unclear just which version of Ghost Recon would be adapted. "We don't want to make an average movie," said Jean-Julien Baronnet, chief executive of Ubisoft Motion Pictures. "We want to make a movie that will serve the brand and make happy the gamers and also the non-gamers. I think it has never been done before, but we can build this bridge."

What do you think of the idea of a Ghost Recon film? What Ubisoft franchise would you like to see brought to life in other media?
