The new mobile game, Transformers: Battle Tactics, blends turn-based strategy with ultra-cute big head mode versions of the bots we all know and love.

Transformers: Battle Tactics will have players creating customizable squads of classic Transformers, with the possibility of teaming Autobots and Decepticons in the same group, or multiple, alternate-universe versions of the same character. My, how the fan fiction writers will be pleased. While Transformers: Battle Tactics certainly looks like fluffy, energon-infused fun, it will be free to play, so this fluffiness may come at the price of gating the hell out of all of your favorite Transformers— don't expect to come in and craft your Transformer dream team right off the bat.

The robots in disguise have a long and storied history when it comes to their multimedia appearances; while most fans think most fondly of the original cartoon, at this point there are dozens of different continuities, film, television, and video games series to draw from, so hopefully DeNA Games, the team behind T:BT, will pay homage to the lengthy history of this iconic franchise.

There's no solid word on a release date as of yet, but we do know that Transformers: Battle Tactics will be released for iOS, Google, and Android devices. You can check out the official site, and sign up for exclusive rewards, while you wait for a release date.
