The controversial spokeswoman for Feminist Frequency is joining the ranks of Towerfall Ascension's upcoming expansion, Dark World.

Matt Makes Games has revealed some of its new characters joining the likes of Towerfall Ascension's Dark World Expansion. There are 10 new archers coming to Towerfall, with some alternates being added as well. Developer Matt Thorson is adding different kinds of archers, with various interpretations for their alternate skins. Vigilante Mask is an alternate version of the Green Archer. The alternate Orange Archer skin is the Loyal Kingsguard (who was highly influenced by Alucard from the Castlevania series). The Pink Archer is getting the Blind Prince alternate look, but the Blue Archer is getting the most attention. The Blue Archer's alternate look is being influenced by the feminist gaming critic, Anita Sarkeesian.

Here's what developer Matt Thorson had to say about the upcoming character:

Next up is the alternate blue archer. If you keep up on gaming news she may seem familiar - her appearance is loosely based on feminist games critic Anita Sarkeesian. Anita’s work has been an inspiration to the TowerFall team. Her “Tropes vs Women in Games” video series gave us a valuable new lens through which to assess our character designs. TowerFall is about bringing people together, so it’s vitally important that the cast of playable characters makes everyone feel invited to join in. Simply put, this wouldn’t have occurred to me if not for Anita, and feedback from players has reinforced how important it really is. We’re very excited to immortalize Anita in a small way, as the alternate Last of the Order.

Towerfall Ascension's Dark World expansion is scheduled to drop in early 2015, so we have a feeling we'll be seeing it sooner rather than later on the PlayStation 4 and PC.
