Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

    Kojima Productions

New Metal Gear Solid, new PlayStation Console, what’s not to love. With our last Metal Gear experience being Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, we’re sure Metal Gear fans can’t wait to get back to stealth based gameplay. It’s not that cutting enemies into a million pieces wasn’t fun, but when it comes to Metal Gear you really can’t beat Solid or Naked Snake.

    Professor Layton VS. Phoenix Wright

    Level-5

Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright was one of the biggest 3DS releases in Japan last year. Famitsu rated the game only a few points short of a perfect score. Several import reviewers have said that the game’s contradiction based puzzles are second-to-none. Puzzle and adventure gamers everywhere are foaming at the mouth waiting for this game to come to the states. Please announce a localized version. Please!

    Nintendo Behind Closed Doors

    Nintendo

We have already mentioned several Wii U and 3DS games we want to see this year. However, what we are really excited about is the surprises Nintendo has in store. Nintendo has chosen not to have a keynote presentation this year, instead choosing to give the media behind closed doors demos of their upcoming products. We will get to play the new Mario & Luigi RPG, the new Mario Party, and hopefully some of the other games on this list as well. With everyone drooling over the PS4 and Xbox 360, we want to see what Nintendo is going to do to compete.

    4K Display Tech

    Sony and Others

Last generation, it was all about HD gaming. Now, we have 4K Ultra HD. With nearly twice the horizontal and vertical resolution of a standard 1080p television, TV companies everywhere are heralding 4K as the wave of the future. The PS4 has already been revealed to support 4K resolutions. Will the next Xbox? How will gaming companies utilize this new tech to make their games even more eye-bleedingly beautiful than they already are? How much better can our video game graphics get?

    The Ouya

    OUYA Inc.

The Ouya will be hitting store shelves around the same time as E3, and gamers everywhere will be looking forward to seeing what it can do. While the PS4 and Xbox 720 will be toying around with new ultra-high definition resolutions, the Ouya is merely capable of producing graphics a little better than a PlayStation 2. It’s not selling itself on its tech, it’s selling itself on its open development platform and cheap price tag. However, the system will never be able to compete with the big boys without a solid launch line-up and that is what we are hoping to see at this year's E3. While Ouya Inc. itself won't have a booth at the show, we can only hope that indie and AAA developers alike will show us what the console can do.

    Unreal Engine 4

    Epic Games

You have no idea how many games utilize the Unreal Engine. Everything from Mortal Kombat to Mass Effect. From Lolipop Chainsaw to Lost Planet 3. From Devil May Cry to Dust 514. The next big step in the Unreal Engine’s evolution was revealed last year, but we still haven’t gotten a chance to really see it in action. With the PS4 natively supporting this engine, we want to see just what this new piece of middleware can do. It would also be a treat to see some of the upcoming Unreal Engine 4 games in action like Fortnite and Daylight.

    Battlefield 4

    EA

It wouldn’t be E3 if the show floor wasn’t absolutely saturated with shooters. Luckily, if you sift through the shovelware, you’ll eventually find some gems that do the shooter name proud. With the next generation of consoles coming out, EA would be absolutely crazy to not give us a sneak peek at the next Battlefield title, especially considering the next entry on our list.

    Call of Duty: Ghosts

    Activision

Call of Duty and Battlefield have always been the Mario and Sonic of the shooter world, and they will both be at E3 this year. How will they outdo each other? Who will have the better perks? Who will have the story that more appeals to the America-loving gun-nut in all of us? We can’t wait to see this battle go down.

    Square-Enix’s Final Fantasy Announcement

    Square-Enix

Square-Enix showed up to the PS4 event this year with a big announcement. That announcement? That they would be making another announcement at E3 this year. What a tease. Anyway, the announcement is supposedly about Square-Enix’s biggest franchise, Final Fantasy. Will we finally see Final Fantasy 15? Will Final Fantasy Versus 13 ever come out? Who knows!? Frankly, we would prefer is Square just surprised us all and said we were getting an HD remake of Chrono Trigger.

Whether or Not the Xbox SmartGlass Is Extinct

    Microsoft

Every company has their own way to compete with the Wii U’s new tablet controller. The Sony has the Vita’s ability to connect to the PS4 and PS3 as a controller, while Microsoft revealed the Xbox Smart Glass. This would allow games to be controlled via tablets and cellphones. Unfortunately, we haven’t heard anything about this technology since last year. Now, we want to know if SmartGlass is even still a thing now that the next Xbox is coming out.
