Q Games is known for its fine work in the PixelJunk series, but for its next big splash on PS4 it's partnered with Sony's Japan Studio and created The Tomorrow Children, which made its debut at the Sony Gamescom 2014 press conference earlier today.

The game seems to mix Minecraft with tower defense and a whole lot more, all with a distinct Soviet Union feel to it. The copious amounts of red everywhere, plus the little flags that look like they were ripped right out of the Cold War, give the vibe that these little children are working for the people.

What's most intriguing is that these little people look like they're mining giant creatures, but we're not sure what that's all about. Will we be using these creatures in battle against other factions? Will these monsters be mobile towers that we'll be defending? What the heck is going on here? We're not completely sure, but we're ready to check it out for ourselves.

There have been a lot of unique and interesting games coming out of Gamescom, but The Tomorrow Children has taken a front seat in our focus. Hopefully we'll be able to see more soon, because it looks really cool.
