A new portal of power is about to open now that Activision is planning to unveil this year's next entry of the Skylanders series.

Polygon reports that they have received an invitation to Activision's official unveiling of the newest incarnation of the Skylanders series which will be taking place at a media event held by Activision in New York on April 23. This custom invitation (provided below) was personally made to Brian Crecente, a news editor at Polygon. The personalized video message featured the two main opposing leaders in the Skylanders world, the Merlin-like Eon and the evil Kaos, each inviting Brian in their own, comical way.

Ever since Skylanders made its debut as an offshoot from the Spyro series in 2011's Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, Skylanders has found itself met with widespread success, resulting in a new Skylanders title being released every year after. Given that Skylanders' main competition in the action figure/gaming hybrid genre is Disney Infinity, which Disney has announced that they are planning to involve both Star Wars and Marvel Comics characters, Activision has its work cut out for them if they want to openly compete with the likes of Disney.
