Bethesda has revealed a new trailer for The Evil Within, setting up the story for the Mikami horror epic and teaching us the basic ways to survive the evil within.

The trailer starts with our hero hanging upside down in a makeshift butcher shop alongside other humans, solidifying that no one should ever want to taste what's coming out of that shop. He cuts himself down, unwittingly sets off an alarm, and finds himself being chased by a chainsaw-wielding maniac. The villain catches up to our guy, cuts him down...and the real trailer begins.

Yes, that's only about 45 seconds of the three-and-a-half minute video, as after that the trailer introduces us to who we'll be controlling and gives us some pointers on how to approach whatever Shinji Mikami and his team have in store for us. However, that brief little snippet sets up everything we need to know on what this game is all about: there's going to be lots of blood, guts, and gross looking enemies in this game, and we'll have to try our best to get through without wetting our pants.

The Evil Within launches Oct. 14 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
