Trilobyte is bringing the puzzle horror game The 7th Guest back with a new sequel planned for multiple platforms.

According to Polygon, The 7th Guest: 3 features more of the familiar eerie atmosphere and brow-furrowing puzzles that made the original games so memorable. The new sequel will still take place at the iconic Stauf mansion, which has been turned into a historic museum. The environments will be brought to life in real-time 3D.

"In the world of The 7th Guest: 3, you will re-enter the mysterious and magical mansion, newly restored with games, puzzles and artifacts," Trilobyte co-founder Charlie McHenry told Polygon. "But it is still haunted, as players will soon discover. You will learn more about what happened on that terrible night, and discover the real story and previously hidden secrets of the gaming world's most mysterious toymaker."

McHenry believes the game can be completed in the next 12 to 18 months, adding that Trilobyte is currently trying to find investors to back the project. Depending on how that round of investment goes, Trilobyte is planning a Kickstarter to help get The 7th Guest: 3 off the ground. The developer is planning PC, Mac, Android, and iOS versions of the sequel.
