Temple Run, that juggernaut of an endless runner, will get itself a straight-up sequel that will likely hit the App Store tomorrow, Jan. 17. This news arrives thanks to the watchful eyes of Touch Arcade, who spotted a link for the game over in the New Zealand iTunes App Store. Again with the Kiwis!

The original Temple Run was launched in 2011 on iOS, before getting ported to Android in 2012. And it's been downloaded a whole lot since. The last count was somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 million. We're no accountants here, but that sure seems like a lot.

Like its older sibling, Temple Run 2 will be free-to-play. But instead of a sweaty jungle, this game will take place in a temple up in the mountains. Something along the lines of Temple Run 2: Machu Picchu.
