With 36 playable characters already announced for the upcoming Wii U and 3DS release of Super Smash Bros., Nintendo need to turn to other, somewhat less interesting info to leak. Today, the company revealed the menu screen for the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros., letting us all know what we’ll see before we actually play the game.

The screen shots are presented on Nintendo’s Miiverse website by series creator Masahiro Sakurai. Sakurai shows off a very familiar main menu screen that will appear on the 3DS’s top screen, and explained that the icons shown will be animated in-game.

The menu is presented in an art style that doesn’t stray too far from Super Smash Bros. Brawl’s menu screen. In addition to Smash mode, the menu features options for online play, challenges and something called Smash Run, as well as a button for Games & More, which may refer to a series of mini-games. Sakurai went on to state that the menu screen took a lot of work because of the bottom screen which shows a different picture for each game mode.

Perhaps the most interesting part of this reveal is the Wii U button on the bottom of the top screen. Nintendo has already announced that the two versions of Super Smash Bros. will feature some kind of cross-platform connectivity, but has been tight-lipped about details. Hopefully we’ll learn more about the Wii U button before the game launches on Oct. 3.
