The new color variants of these Super Smash Bros. characters show off some of our favorite looks and costumes each fighter ever had.

Destructoid reports that Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai has posted multiple pictures of Samus from the Metroid series and the Villager from Animal Crossing onto the Miiverse to let us see how detailed the color schemes for each character will be. Sakurai explains that previous titles only had four-to-six colors per character. This time, each character will have eight unique colors, with many being pertinent to the characters' history. For example, the color variants for Little Mac feature the boxing bruiser's looks from the original arcade, NES and SNES versions of Punch-Out!!

With these released pictures, we get to see Samus' Dark Suit, Super Metroid's Gravity Suit, Metroid Fusion's Fusion Suit, and the Varia Suit seen in multiple entries of the series (provided in the picture above). In the picture provided at the bottom of this news story, we see Metroid Prime 2's Dark and Light Suits, the Green armor from the Smash series and the Gravity Suit from Metroid Prime. We also get to see four new Animal Crossing Villager variants, indicating gender changes according to the costume variant (much like Robin from Fire Emblem).

Have your 3DS charged, because Super Smash Bros. launches on Oct. 3. The Wii U counterpart of Super Smash Bros. will debut sometime later this winter.
