StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm has finally been released and has gone live in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Let's take a look at what's in store for us in the second chapter of the StarCraft 2 saga.

The game was officially released today in the United States, Canada, Europe, Russia, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Plans for the game's release for mainland China will be announced soon.

Heart of the Swarm's campaign follows the story of the Queen of Blades, Sarah Kerrigan, as she harnesses the might and incredible numbers of her brood to go after Arcturus Mengsk.

The game follows the events after the Wings of Liberty campaign and sees Kerrigan fighting across the galaxy in 20 campaign missions. You'll be able to outfit the Queen of Blades with new powers and evolve zergs in order to customize your playstyle. We're not feeling too sympathetic towards Mengsk, but we certainly don't want to be him when Kerrigan comes a-knockin'.

We're sure that a massive amount of players around the world zerg rushed the servers this morning as soon as their respective regions went live. Some new features for the multiplayer mode include group and clan systems, the option to train with and fight against the A.I., unranked matchmaking, Global Play, additional stat-tracking, user interface improvements, better physics, and an option to watch replays with friends and then jump in at any time. Oh yeah, there's also a new leveling system through which players can earn customization options for their online profiles.

Are you going to join Kerrigan on her journey of vengeance? Let us know in the comments!
