Square Enix is taking the company known for Neo Geo and Fatal Fury to court over its High Score Girl manga series.

The company known for the likes of Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy has announced that it filed a declaratory judgment suit against SNK Playmore. Filed in Osaka, this lawsuit was done in response to the criminal complaint that SNK originally filed against Square Enix over its High Score Girl manga series. The original complaint claimed that Square Enix's manga featured SNK characters in it without the company's permission. After this original complaint, the Osaka Prefectural Police Headquarters and Sonezaki PD conducted a domiciliary search of Square Enix's main offices on Aug. 5.

Square Enix wants a declaratory judgment that it did not violate SNK's copyrights. The picture we have provided of High Score Girl features characters from Capcom's Darkstalkers franchise. We'd like to see what would happen if Capcom hit them with Super Lawsuit II: Championship Edition.
