The fan-favorite multiplayer mode Spies vs. Mercs returns this fall in Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

Spies vs. Mercs was skipped the last time out for the Splinter Cell franchise, but Ubisoft is bringing it back with style and new features in Blacklist. The mode has been expanded to 4v4, and looks to rely on the light and dark relationships more than ever based on the footage.

As you can see, the mercenaries and spies both play a bit differently as well. Longtime fans will be glad to see the trademark style differences, but newcomers might not notice that playing as spies is in third-person, while mercs are played from a first-person perspective.

The trailer doesn't get very in-depth with the mode, but the general idea from the original incarnations returns. Spies must hack, and mercs must kill the spies. Okay, well technically, mercs are supposed to prevent the data from being hacked, but killing spies seems like a good preventative measure. It's a tale as old as time. Check out the video below, and let us know if you're excited to learn Spies vs. Mercs is officially back.
