One of the most pivotal games ever made is getting ready for its big premier on the silver screen 36 years after its arcade debut.

The Wrap reports that Akiva Goldsman will be producing a film based on the retro, Taito arcade classic, Space Invaders. Goldsman is known for writing, directing and producing 'Winter's Tales,' for Warner Bros. Space Invaders will also be distributed by Warner Bros. Also producing the Space Invaders film will be Joby Harold, the writer and director of 'Awake,' and Tory Tunnell. WB executive Jesse Ehrman will oversee the project for the company.

We're rather unsure of how someone could make a full-length feature film out of Space Invaders, given that it has no plot -- you just shoot lasers at alien ships. It seems that Warner Bros. is hoping to get people to watch what is likely to be a random alien war movie named after an arcade classic that never had a story. Nevertheless, stay tuned as we will provide additional coverage on Space Invaders once more information is available.
