While underwater horror isn't anything new, the folks at Frictional Games is getting set to scare us something fierce in SOMA.
Just the sounds you hear at the beginning of the trailer make you all kinds of nervous, muffled by the water pressure. You can immediately discern that nothing good has happened at this station beneath the tides. The camera zooms out to reveal the dark depths of the ocean while some ominous music plays. Welcome to SOMA.
This post on the PlayStation Blog by Thomas Grip, Creative Director at Frictional Games, certainly conveys a feeling of dread thanks to the combination of the video and the sparse screenshots he provides. Grip comments that because the ocean is such a deep, mysterious world, it was the perfect setting for Frictional Games' next adventure in horror. We won't see this title released for PlayStation 4 until 2015, so we'll just have to sit in anticipation for now. Or dread, depending on how you feel about the seas.
