Great news for anyone who has followed the Kickstarter campaign for Shovel Knight, as the PC project is headed for a Nintendo 3DS and Wii U release.

Kickstarter supporters must pledge $15 or more for the Wii U or 3DS option, but Windows PC users will only have to pledge $10. Yacht Club Games' target goal is $75,000 by April 13th, and so far $38,698 has been raised.

"We are so completely excited to be developing for Nintendo," reads the updated post. "Because as an 8-bit style game, Nintendo is where Shovel Knight belongs. Now our heritage platform is secured. What platform could be next!?!?"

Yacht Club Games is headed to PAX East to preview an early version of their adventure title, which centers on a hero who hunts down an evil enchantress with his mighty ShovelBlade. Expect a spike in Kickstarter funding this weekend if Shovel Knight digs its way into gamers' hearts and minds.
