Indie studio Yacht Club Games has announced that its upcoming, 8-bit platformer will be coming to Nintendo 3DS, Wii U and PC later this month, but is stopping by E3 first.

Shovel Knight has been given a greenlight for its official launch later this month via Steam and the Nintendo eShop. This retro adventure game seeks to playfully pay tribute to the likes of Wizards and Warriors and Ghouls 'n Ghosts.

Shovel Knight was crowdfunded through Kickstarter last April and exceeded its original goal of $75,000, going over $300,000 and meeting all of its stretch goals. Those who pledged $50 or more to Shovel Knight's kickstarter will be getting the NES-esque game box in the mail, and those who pledged $15 will be getting the game's retro-style instruction manual. There will also be a playable version of Shovel Knight for Nintendo 3DS on the E3 showroom floor near Nintendo's side of the show.

Shovel Knight will be digging its way to Nintendo 3DS, Wii U and PC on June 26. PC owners will be able to get Shovel Knight through Steam while Nintendo 3DS and Wii U players can get Shovel Knight through the Nintendo eShop.
