That's no joke — the epic RPG crossover, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, is still happening, and it's coming to the Wii U.

Nintendo has released a new trailer for the upcoming JRPG project that brings together the popular Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem franchises in one epic adventure. The Big N originally unveiled this project over two years ago as a collaborative project between Intelligent Systems and Atlus. With Intelligent Systems working on their own Fire Emblem coming to the Nintendo 3DS in 2016 and Code Name: S.T.E.A.M., we have a feeling Atlus will be the ones taking charge of this game's development. Then again, this marks the first major Wii U title that either studio will be making.

From Fire Emblem, you can expect the following characters: Marth, Caeda, Roy, Lilina, Hector, Lyn, Eliwood, Eirika, Ephraim, Elincia, Sothe, Ike, Micaiah, Chrom and Lucina. Coming from the Shin Megami Tensei series, the following characters will be included: Kazuya, Yuka, Aleph, Hiroko, Tamaki Uchida, Demi-fiend, Chiaki Tachibana, Flynn and Isabeau.

Here's what Nintendo had to say about this awesome collaboration:

Shin Megami Tensei & Fire Emblem Crossover Project: The role-playing masters at ATLUS are developing a truly modern RPG, where everyday life exists alongside a secret world of fantasy that includes characters from the Fire Emblem series.

Unfortunately, Nintendo did not give us a launch window, so we have a feeling we might not see this JRPG crossover hit North America until 2016. Heck, they haven't even settled on an official name for it yet — we still like Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem.
