Shin Megami Tensei 4 has received a new trailer, giving us all a peek at the upcoming Japanese role-playing game. It's also got us hoping for a North American release, which is pretty impressive since we don't know what the hell's going on in the trailer.

From what we can discern of the trailer for the Nintendo 3DS game, the title features characters from the year 1492 and the player character will come equipped with a futuristic gauntlet that's reminiscent of Fallout 3's  Pip-Boy 3000.

The same fight-and-recruit-demons system from previous games seems to have returned, along with the first-person battles that the series is known to favor. We're not sure how it happens, but the protagonists are transported to the modern world and have to deal with some demonic urban crisis, par for the course of a Shin Megami Tensei game.

Watch the trailer below and try to discern what's going on in the images. Or, if you can speak Japanese, let us know what the trailer's saying! No plans for a North American version have been announced, but we'll let you know if that becomes a reality. In the meantime, we're just going to sit here and try to telepathically convince Atlus to bring it over to our hemisphere.
