According to Gamespot, Massimo Guarini and his studio Ovosonico have entered into a new partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment World Studios Europe for development on a new IP.

Guarini may be best known for his work on Shadows of the Damned, and other projects from Grasshopper Manufacture. He also directed Naruto: Rise of Ninja, and has worked on several titles in the Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell franchises. Massimo left Grasshopper Manufacture back in 2011, but if this new IP is anything like other Grasshopper games, it will be filled with camp and wackiness.

Unfortunately, few details about this new IP have been publicly revealed. However, both sides of the partnership are incredibly enthusiastic. Guarini said that Sony, “understands our vision and we are thrilled to partner with them.” Sony, on the other hand, said, “It is through working with creative minds such as Massimo Guarini that ensures that the best exclusive games are only available on PlayStation and we firmly believe that this relationship will result in something special.”

Last we heard from Guarini, he was attempting to develop a new sort of game, in terms of time frame. Instead of developing, “throw-away iPhone games and 40-hour long traditional productions,” Guarini want to make a game experience that last essentially as long as a movie would last. In that same time he wants to convey the same emotions and themes that a movie does, just through an interactive medium. As of now, there is no telling whether or not the IP that Sony and Guarini is working on is the same project that Guarini announced previously.
