The comedic pair behind 'Superbad,' 'Pineapple Express' and 'This is the End' are directing and writing the screenplay to the story behind Sega and Nintendo's gargantuan battle.

According to Coming Soon, Sony Pictures has just announced it's doing a feature film based on Blake Harris' upcoming business thriller novel, 'Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo, and the Battle that Defined a Generation.' It looks as if the hilarious, heavyweight duo of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are going to be directing this on-screen adaptation and will be writing its screenplay as well.

'Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo, and the Battle that Defined a Generation' details the history of how Sega started off as a small gaming company that eventually went head-to-head with Nintendo throughout the '80s and '90s. While we're unsure whether or not Rogen and Goldberg will be able to cram their usual amount of R-rated humor into the on-screen adaption, we have a feeling this film will work on a level similar to 'The Social Network.'

The hardcover edition of 'Console Wars' will be hitting store shelves in August 2014. No word on when production on the film will start just yet.
