Earlier this week, we learned that Real Racing 3 would hit iOS and Android at the end of the month. But we didn't know that EA and Firemonkeys had an early "soft launch" Valentine prepared for the good people of Australia and New Zealand. The racing sim that everybody wants to play is now available in those App Stores, with a copy in Canada due tomorrow.

It has been close to three years since Real Racing 2 hit the tracks. But judging from what we've seen of Real Racing 3 so far, the time has been well spent making an amazing-looking game.

Unlike past titles in the Real Racing franchise, Real Racing 3 will be free to play, including in-app purchases that will no doubt rack up big bucks from iPhone wielding car nuts everywhere that will want to customize their rides.

For more casual gamers who just want to try it out, the freemium model is a big win, giving you access to a premium title with tons of content -- there are hundreds of tracks and cars to unlock! The only downside is that most of us will still have to wait until the game is ready to go worldwide on Feb 28th.
