Gamers have never had a problem spending money. Every console cycle, millions of players line up to spend between $300 and $500 for the newest dedicated game platforms, and then spend thousands on software over the console’s life cycle. PC gamers are even more willing to part with their hard-earned cash, dropping up to $1500 on a high-end gaming rig. For players who just can’t get rid of their money quickly enough, Love Hultén has created the R-Kaid-R, a gorgeous portable arcade console that will set you back over $3,000.00.

Limited to 50 hand-made units, the R-Kaid-R (Arcader) is a portable console that plays arcade games through MAME, and emulates a selection of consoles ranging from the Atari 2600 to the PlayStation. Encased in walnut, ash or maple wood, the unit is as aesthetically pleasing as it is functional, with brass fittings around its nine buttons and custom 8-way joystick that unscrews when the case is closed. An 8-inch LCD screen displays games at 800x600 resolution via HDMI, and is framed in a vintage style that would look right at home in a BioShock game. The R-Kaid-R comes in five colors, and each unit is hand-numbered.

With a price tag of €2,499, U.S. players are looking at spending around $3,400 to own “the arcade an equivalent next to the oil painting on your wall.” If money is no object, however, the R-Kaid-R is a uniquely beautiful item that’s sure to garner plenty of attention at your millionaire yacht club money burning parties.
