Tell Ash Ketchum he's getting the Butterfree treatment and can get lost, because the original Pokemon game trainer, Red, is here to catch 'em all in the cutest way possible.

Red, who is based off the protagonist of the original 1996 Pokemon Red and Blue titles for Game Boy, has been getting a bit more of the spotlight as of late. While we have grown mighty comfortable with Ash Ketchum as the face of the anime series, Red has been the apotheosis of Pokemon collecting, especially when it comes to the pixelated versions. With the inclusion of his character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and the new 'Pokemon Origins' anime series, we're glad to see the first trainer we ever played as get the recognition he truly deserves.

Comics Alliance reports that this Nendoroid figure, made by the Good Smile Company, is being released in Japan later this year. Along with many other Good Smile Nendoroid figures from recent anime series, Red is slated for a late November release for the price of ¥4,500 (roughly $44.34). Unfortunately, Red has yet to have any North American online listings, which leads us to believe that you may have to turn to third-party vendors in order to get this figure out of Japan, which will likely result in Red having a significantly marked-up price. Luckily, Red comes with Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle along with a variety of interchangeable accessories, such as a backpack, Pokedex, Pokeball, Master Ball, Gym Badge and different appendages to change his poses and expressions.
