The iconic intro to the Pokemon anime series being remade with Grand Theft Auto V's Rockstar Editor is as awesome and disturbing as you'd expect.

Kudos to YouTuber Merfish (courtesy of Kotaku) for this hilarious video of the Pokemon anime intro being remade using the Rockstar Editor. We recently reported that the Rockstar Editor was coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next month, and this video is proof of all the fun you can have with it. Watching Ash Ketchum and Pikachu played by Trevor Phillips and Michael De Santa is hilarious, in a twisted sort of way. Instead of using the various types of wildlife encountered throughout the Los Santos and Blaine County areas of Grand Theft Auto V, Merfish decided to just use the game's human characters to stand in for the adorable pocket monsters from the anime's intro.

Casting Chop as Growlithe and Lamar as Onix are just some of the small touches Merfish included that make this video even more hilarious for longtime Pokemon fans. Franklin dressed up as Brock and Steve Haines playing Gary are perfect choices, considering that Franklin became friends with Trevor and Haines was one of the main baddies of the game. We're fairly impressed with how true to the intro Merfish was in making this, as it looks like Los Santos has crossed over to the Kanto Region.

For the sake of comparison, here's Merfish's custom intro playing next to the original:
