Rare's popular Honey Bear and Breegull duo could be making it to the Super Smash Bros roster thanks to Nintendo's new Fighter Ballot and Phil Spencer's desire to see Banjo-Kazooie added.

Xbox head Phil Spencer revealed that he's quite open to the possibility of having Banjo-Kazooie appear as a DLC character in Super Smash Bros. Nintendo recently opened the doors to opinions to gauge what kind of characters, whether Nintendo-owned or not, that fans would like to see added to the game (because they did so well with Ridley, right?). When asked about Banjo heading to Super Smash Bros on Twitter, Phil Spencer admitted that Microsoft Studios would likely be down to do it.

"Nintendo is holding a poll for the next Smash Bros DLC, and Banjo is a popular choice! It would mean so much if you could get him in," a fan tweeted to Spencer.

Spencer's response made us very hopeful:

"I think it would be cool if Banjo was in the next SSB DLC. We've worked with Nintendo on Rare IP before, no issues."

Spencer has always been down to Earth when it comes to talking about games. He doesn't have to hide the fact that the competition at Sony and Nintendo have their own great IPs and games, and we're glad to see him open about these things. Rare, Ltd. is currently a subsidiary of Microsoft Studios, and it has an awesome and long history with making games for Nintendo consoles.

A few weeks ago, Rare premiered a live demo of a new Banjo-Kazooie project where SXSW 2015's crowd was able to control Banjo and Kazooie's flying via motion controls. This was a bit of a bummer because we wanted to see a more traditional Banjo-Kazooie experience: tribal guys speaking in gibberish and third-person platforming, not another Kinect game, please.

As for who would we like to see in Super Smash Bros, we want Paper Mario, Geno, Birdo and Knuckles added.
