The Wii U is a fairly impressive machine, but it often takes way too long to load games or return to the Home menu. That won't be the case for much longer.

A new console update for the Wii U will be coming in April to address the slow loading times plaguing the system since launch. Earlier this year, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto said the update would encompass a variety of issues, with a focus on improving the console's interface. Miyamoto even went so far as to say the update would see the Wii U "very much improved over how it’s performing currently.”

Nintendo has released a video showing just how much better the console will run after the update arrives in April. Below you'll see the GamePad exiting New Super Mario Bros. U to return to the Wii Home screen. The improved speed is more than double what the console is at right now. Hopefully Nintendo will demonstrate some of the other improvements coming, but this change is certainly going to be welcome.
