New The Last of Us Dev Diary is Infectious

Naughty Dog has released the first of five new development diaries about The Last of Us, with this first entry focusing on the Infected.

From what we've seen so far of The Last of Us, it's been mostly how the lead characters Joel and Ellie deal with other surviving humans in the post-apocalyptic world. Naughty Dog has kept the Infected out of the spotlight as much as possible until now, and this new video showcases the creation of the post-human fungal creatures.

The majority of the creatures are still being kept under wraps, but getting a look at the low level Clicker, and how all the rest of the Infected evolve from this form is good enough for us. We feel bad for the designer who spent his days researching disease and fungal overgrowth to come up with the look you see here. But not too bad, because his design made it into the game.
