Perfect World Entertainment has announced that its popular, free-to-play MMORPG, Neverwinter, is coming to consoles, with the Xbox One being its first destination.

Cryptic Studios will be bringing Neverwinter to consoles, first being free-to-play for Xbox Live Gold subscribers on Xbox One. Neverwinter is set in the Dungeons & Dragons' Forgotten Realms universe created by Wizards of the Coast, who are also the makers of Pokemon: The Trading Card Game and Magic: The Gathering.

"Neverwinter is our premier title to bring to console players,” said Perfect World Entertainment CEO, Alan Chen. “Consoles are a perfect fit for action-oriented MMORPGs like Neverwinter, and we are thrilled to be one of the first publishers to bring premium free-to-play titles to leading next-gen platforms. Being able to bring Neverwinter to the Xbox One is a critical achievement for Perfect World. It is our first step taking our games beyond the PC market.”

Neverwinter is an action-based MMORPG where you can create your own quests and campaigns with the Foundry. The Foundry is a content creation tool which will help facilitate your own designs being brought into the Forgotten Realms of Neverwinter. Neverwinter originally launched in the summer of 2013 for PC.

Neverwinter will launch on multiple consoles throughout the first half of 2015, but will be launching first on Xbox One. It will remain free-to-play as long as you have a premium membership to Xbox Live.
