The U.K.-based studio has seen some staff realignment, and now Criterion remains a workforce of barely more than a dozen developers.

According to Gamasutra, Criterion now has a staff of a whopping 17 people. This is after EA shifted a great many of devs over to Ghost Games, the studio in charge of the Need for Speed: Rivals and the rest of the franchise moving forward. While the exact number remains in question, more than 60 people from Criterion were moved to Ghost Games.

Criterion is still active, and does have plans for the future. Those plans just don't include more Need for Speed titles. Staff reductions like this have become more and more common in recent years, but at least in this case Criterion will still continue to function. It will certainly be interesting to see what the former Burnout developers have in store for the gaming community, but it will likely be some time until we learn more about the studio's fate and plans.
