In a press release today, 2K Games has announced the cover athlete for this year’s installment of their award-winning NBA 2K series. Oklahoma City Thunder guard Kevin Durant will grace the cover of NBA 2K15.

As a four-time NBA scoring leader and the 2014 league MVP, “The Durantula” is one of the top players in the game today, and a perfect pick to replace last year’s star, Lebron James. The 25-year old superstar expressed his excitement at the announcement, remarking, “I’ve been an avid fan and player of NBA 2K since I was a kid, and being selected as the sole cover athlete of NBA 2K15 is an amazing accomplishment at this point of my life. I feel like my time has come.” This marks KD’s first solo appearance on a game cover, though he shared the 2K13 honor with Bulls guard, Derrick Rose, and Clippers forward, Blake Griffin, against whom Durant is currently playing in the second round of the NBA Playoffs.

The release also announced that customers can pre-order the game for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC before its October 7 release date by heading to the 2K Facebook page.
