Murdered: Soul Suspect Brings Supernatural CSI to Xbox One

We have played plenty of crime scene investigation titles before, but Murdered: Soul Suspect goes beyond the grave to make it truly different.

Thanks to Xbox Wire, we have learned from the team at Airtight Games that Murdered: Soul Suspect is coming to next-gen systems. Well at least one of them anyway. The upcoming Xbox One title will play a lot like L.A. Noire, but if Cole was more like Sam Wheat from ‘Ghost.’ You play as the recently diseased spirit of Detective Ronan O’Connor, who remains at the site of his death as a ghost that no one else can see. Ronan must use his ethereal abilities to investigate his crime scenes in ways that no one else has ever done before in order to find out who killed him and why.

In ‘Frighteners’ and ‘Ghostbusters’ fashion, Ronan can walk through walls, leaving ectoplasmic residue at the spots he clipped though. CSI detective work requires physically manipulating evidence and talking to witnesses in order to gather information, which Ronan can no longer do. Fortunately, the loss of his corporeal body has resulted in Ronan gaining otherworldly abilities to help him investigate scenes, invade people’s memories and persuade the people physically at the scene in order to get to the truth.

Ronan can possess people, but it’s nowhere near the Linda Blair-level of spiritually commandeering a living body. Ronan can look through a person’s eyes, hear through their ears, go through their thoughts and even plant thoughts of his own into the person’s mind. This will help sway the investigations your way and point the police in the right direction.

Ronan isn’t the only ghost around, be on the look out for phantasms and other ghouls who have never moved on ages before Ronan become a ghost. Unfortunately, these ghosts, who have roamed the scenes for generations without any type of progress, have become vengeful spirits who will attack any other nearby souls (which means you).

Murdered: Soul Suspect will be out for the Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC this year. No word yet on a PlayStation 4 version, but Square is likely to bring the undead to Sony’s new system, too.
