Let's just say the newest fighter added to Mortal Kombat X's roster has a lot of fans.

Amidst the furor caused by the latest Nintendo Direct event, the stealthy krew at NetherRealm launched a new trailer for Mortal Kombat X, and the bloody action contained within makes us really excited for its upcoming launch. Two new character reveals are included in this trailer: the rumored Kung Lao featured in a recent magazine scan and Princess Kitana of Edenia showing herself for the first time. We see a few interactions between these two new combatants and other characters, and then we get to see them fight.

Kung Lao looks to be focused solely on hat tricks and tough Shaolin strikes, as we all expected. We see him float his hat in front of him and then push it into his opponent. While we don't know if that's a Variation technique or a new special move, it certainly adds some depth to the character. There's also a variation where the brim of Kung Lao's hat glows like a lightsaber, and we love it.

Kitana uses her fans with deadly precision, slicing and dicing just as we would like her to. Her variations seem a bit more subtle, but there's nothing subtle about her new Fatality shown at the end of the video: she lops off her opponent's hands, knocks them down, then plunges her fans into the poor sap's head, causing the scalp to slowly peel off. Gross, but effective.

Kitana, Kung Lao, and the rest of the crew will be ready when Mortal Kombat X launches April 14 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
