NetherRealm Studios has launched the card-based, free-to-play mobile version of Mortal Kombat X on the iOS App Store, with its Android counterpart coming soon.

The launch trailer for the mobile version of Mortal Kombat X gives us insight into how this new portable version of Outworld will play. NetherRealm already had success on the mobile format with WWE Immortals and Injustice: Gods Among Us, so it's no surprise that MKX would be hitting Android and iOS devices. This game will focus on card collecting gameplay intertwined with the fast-paced Mortal Kombat X fighting system. You'll get to see a majority of the roster before their official console debut next week, while being able to unlock gear and additional Fatalities. While the game is free-to-play, you can unlock content for the mobile and console versions via gameplay or microtransactions if you don't feel like playing.

"The team has outdone themselves with its latest offering, creating an authentic Mortal Kombat mobile experience from the ground up, bringing players all the signature, over-the-top fighting gameplay mechanics that are hallmarks of the franchise and delivering on WBIE's quality games-as-a-service promise," said Warner Bros. mobile executive Greg Ballard.

Mortal Kombat X is out now for the iOS format at iTunes for free and is expected to launch very soon for the Android market. MKX will be hitting the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on April 14. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game will launch on June 2. Just remember, if you want to get Goro on your roster, you'll have to pre-order the console version of the game before its release.
