Series creator Ed Boon revealed that there are some festive costumes coming to Mortal Kombat X.

Ed Boon recently Tweeted a picture that featured three new costumes coming to Mortal Kombat X in the form of a Brazil-themed DLC pack. The Brazil Costume Pack will add a Soccer-style costume for Johnny Cage, a Capoeria suit for Liu Kang and a Gaucho outfit for Kung Lao. Obviously, soccer is probably the most popular pastime throughout the country, so it would make sense that a Brazil-themed costume pack would include a soccer/football outfit. For those who don't know, Capoeria is a dance-inspired form martial arts that gamers should recognize as the fighting style of Eddy Gordo from the Tekkenseries, which makes it a bit strange for Liu Kang to be wearing a similar ensemble. Kung Lao's gaucho outfit is pretty much based on a South American cowboy look.

Unfortunately, NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive did not reveal when or how this DLC will be implemented. Based on Warner Bros. Interactive's track record, I'm pretty sure it's going to be paid DLC. Nevertheless, this is a bizarre choice of costumes coming to Mortal Kombat X. As a person of partial Brazilian descent and a longtime Mortal Kombat fan, this puzzles me. Excluding the Revenant and Dark versions of a couple of characters, most of the costumes for the MKX cast have been pretty lackluster in my opinion. I understand that these costumes must be able to adhere to the visual changes in picking different fighting styles, but it seems like the NetherRealm Studios team is capable of so much more than putting a tank top on Jacqui or a soccer shirt on Johnny. Let's see some movie-based outfits, battle-damaged skins, MMA getups, an Injustice set, clothing from MK 5-8, more gag ensembles etc., especially if Warner Bros. is going to charge for this stuff.
