Mojang is partnering up with Telltale Games to finally give us an official, episodic story set in the blocky world of Minecraft.

We finally got our first look at the five-part episodic adventure game series set in the universe of Minecraft. While you should expect to see all kinds of familiar characters and themes from our favorite blocky sandbox game, Telltale Games' signature style of storytelling will be at the forefront of this experience. In Minecraft: Story Mode, we get to play as a hero named Jesse. Jesse and his friends idolize a group of legendary heroes called the Order of the Stone. Now, it's up to Jesse and his friends to find the missing Order if they want to save the world.

"We've worked closely with the amazing team at Mojang to ensure this story is a natural fit for the Minecraft world fans already know and love," said Kevin Bruner, CEO and co-founder of Telltale Games. "As Jesse, players will steer their own path through a tale of adventure and survival; all brought to life by an all-star cast. Through Telltale's choice-based gameplay and a story spanning from the Nether to the Farlands, the End, and beyond, we can't wait for fans to experience this new take on the beloved world of Minecraft."

So who's lending their voices to Minecraft: Story Mode? We have Payton Oswalt in the spotlight voicing Jesse. Other voice actors include Ashley Johnson (The Last of Us), Scott Porter (Batman: Arkham Knight), Brian Posehn (Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer), Martha Plimpton (The Goonies), Corey Feldman (the '80s), Dave Fennoy (The Walking Dead), Billy West (Futurama) and Paul Reubens (The Nightmare Before Christmas).

"The interactive storytellers at Telltale are giving players the chance to explore their own unique interpretation of the Minecraft universe," said Owen Hill, Chief Word Officer at Mojang. "They've crafted a story that follows the logic of Minecraft, but still manages to feel original. It's actually pretty funny too. And the pig is adorable. We're super excited about players digging deeper into the world of Minecraft: Story Mode later this year."

Minecraft: Story Mode will be released in an episodic manner, and its first episode will launch later this year for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, iOS and Android. Our readers should know that Minecraft: Story Mode is separate from the core Minecraft game.
