Whether Talion is using his bow, dagger or sword, the Rune system of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor makes it fun to decimate Sauron's legions.

This new trailer for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor showcases some of the amazing combat mechanics Talion will be able use. In particular, his Wraith powers allow him to pull off some otherworldly attacks. One of these kills looks quite reminiscent of the signature leap of faith we have seen done dozens of times at every landmark scattered throughout the entire Assassin's Creed franchise.

The Rune system of Shadow of Mordor allows you to upgrade your weapons with special bonuses. Runes are unlocked in-game by possessing a captain and threatening his warchief. This makes the warchief surround himself with plenty of lackeys. By fulfilling the death threat, you unlock a new Rune. There are also a few Runes that will be unlocked via retailer-specific pre-order bonuses.

Talion, the Black Gate Ranger with Wraith powers, will take the war to the east when Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor launches on Oct. 7 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
