In case you missed the Tokyo Game Show coverage last week, Konami has been kind enough to provide both trailers for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in English so those of us looking forward to the game in the West can understand what's going on.

The first trailer above shows off Big Boss's new lupine companion D.D. (short for Diamond Dog), starting as a puppy and quickly becoming all grown up. It's a nice change of pace from the super-serious "rubbing ashes on face" trailers that have previously been shown for MGSV, and it's a great way to let us know that Kojima's sense of humor is still intact.

The second video (below), re-introduces us to Quiet, the scantily-clad sharpshooter who never utters a single word. This video is basically how she comes to be a part of Big Boss's operation, but the exchange between Boss and Miller about "dealing with her" is an interesting twist. Why would it come down to that? What if she proves to be a worthy ally? The plot thickens, and if we know Kojima, it's only going to get thicker.

Both of these videos set two completely different tones, but both do a fantastic job of showing us just how many layers MGSV has to offer. We don't know what's next for Kojima and his team, but we're anxious to find out.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain launches in 2015 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

It's that... judo!
