At Emerald City Comic Con, Dark Horse and BioWare announced they'd be partnering for even more Mass Effect comic books.

Dark Horse has previously published several comic book mini-series in the Mass Effect universe, but now they'll be moving ahead with an all-new ongoing. Mass Effect: Foundation will be written by Mac Walters, who was the lead writer on both Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3.

Little else is known about the story of the book at the moment, however Walters did reveal in an interview with Comic Book Resources the lead character in the opening tale will be a female. As Mass Effect is known for having a well-rounded cast, including some incredibly strong female leads, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

The story will be canonical, though it's unclear where in the trilogy's timeline these tales will fit right now. The first issue of Mass Effect: Foundation is due to arrive July 24th, and will be available at comic shops and digital stores on the same day.
