What the Marvel Universe needs is a solid MMO experience, and Marvel Heroes will get its chance when the game goes live on June 4th. As reported by Game Informer, fans who want to actually pay money to unlock characters will get early access to the title.

If players purchased the $19.99 starter pack, they unlock one character, two costumes, $15 of in-game currency and access to the game on June 2nd. Gamers who shell out $199.99 will unlock every character in Marvel Heroes and can play the game seven days before its release.

The goal of the free-to-play game is to stop Doctor Doom, who's in possession of the all powerful Cosmic Cube, from taking over the world. Players can attempt to save the day as such iconic tough guys as Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Hulk, and Wolverine.

Since the story is penned by Brian Michael Bendis, who's one of comic book's more acclaimed scribes, Marvel Heroes could be an all consuming MMO experience. Throw in Diablo mastermind David Brevik as the game's creator, and you have a title that is bursting with even more potential. Although the launch date will focus strictly on PC users, Gazillion Entertainment has promised a Mac release at a later date.
