CES is just around the corner and you know what that means -- it's time for all of us to be up to our eyeballs in software and gadgets. One of the companies that will be showing off some new peripherals will be Mad Catz, the discount video game controller maker that seems like they've been around since before video games. So what's on the table?

Mad Catz is introducing a line of products they are calling GameSmart, which is directed at interfacing mobile devices with some of their more popular peripherals via Bluetooth. Iiiiiinnnteresting. Here's what they have to say:

GameSmart is Designed to work seamlessly and wirelessly with a wide array of devices and platforms, GameSmart Technology is the next generation for gamers wanting controller and console-like accessory functionality for their tablets and mobile and smart devices.

Good controllers are hard to come by in the mobile gaming universe, so this could be a good injection of fresh hardware into a market that's essentially devoid of choice. But even if the project succeeds and does take off, the old problem of support from the actual games themselves will probably make that launch a slow one.

As of now, it's unclear if there will be iOS support from Mad Catz. According to Engadget, the company will have more to show once CES 2013 kicks off tomorrow.
