The PlayStation Blog has announced that Loadout will be coming to the PlayStation 4 as a console exclusive, and released a trailer to celebrate the announcement.

Loadout, Edge of Reality's free-to-play online third-person shooter, has been available on Steam for a few months now, but Sony’s announcement will bring the over-the-top game to millions of console gamers. Sporting a look that’s reminiscent of Team Fortress 2, Loadout is a hectic, gory, bizarre shooter experience that focuses on customization and an absurd amount of weapons. With hundreds of different parts to add to weapons, Loadout offers literally billions of different weapon configurations with which players can decapitate, hobble, disembowel or immolate their opponents. The announcement touts such options as giant death beams, bouncy Tesla balls and laser-guided cluster-bomb rockets.

The 3 million players who have already downloaded the game through Steam know just how crazy and fun Loadout can be, but are also familiar with the game’s issues. Hopefully, when Loadout comes to PS4, it will come with a vastly improved matchmaking system and more maps than the four that exist currently.

As the video clearly shows, Loadout is the very definition of bonkers. Fighters running around with missing limbs, holes in their torsos and flaming blackened skin sounds like a gruesome affair, but the game’s art style keeps things squarely in the realm of the absurd, keeping it more funny than horrifying.

No release date has yet been announced, but we'll be sure to update you on this insane title when more info becomes available.
