Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 Welcomes Back Vanille

Vanille
Weekly Jump

Final Fantasy fans will be elated to hear that Vanille will make an appearance in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13.

An article on Siliconera shows a scan from Japan’s Weekly Jump magazine featuring Oerbia Dia Vanille, one of Lightning’s old friends. This character has been in every Final Fantasy 13 game to date, so it’s no surprise that she’d be making her return in the series’ third title.

She looks largely unchanged, except for maybe the headdress she’s rocking that makes her look kind of like a jellyfish. According to the article, she’s now part of “The Order” in Luxerion and can hear the voices of the dead, leading to her desire to bring them peace.

We can catch up with Vanille and several other old friends when Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 is released on Feb. 11, 2014 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
