Well, Killer Instinct hasn't even been released yet, but now we've gotten word that it will receive a second season in 2014.

An article on Eurogamer features an interview with creative director Ken Lobb, who detailed Microsoft's plans for the fighting game. Killer Instinct will be released in two season, both of which will feature eight characters each. Season two is currently slated for 2014.

With regard to the purchasing of characters, Lobb said, "You can pay $20 again and now you have 16 characters, or you pay $40 again and you'll get the everything version."

There will be free characters to use throughout the game's life using a system much like League of Legends' rotating roster of free-to-use Champions. An example used was Jago being free at launch, but switched out three months later for a different fighter.

Let us know what you think of Microsoft's plans for Killer Instinct and its character availability. Like it? Love it? Hate it? Tell us in the comments.

Killer Instinct will launch with the Xbox One later this year.
