Kabam, publisher of mobile games like Kingdom of Camelot, Dragons of Atlantis, and The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth, have announced a partnership with State of Decay developer Undead Labs that will bring a new RPG, Moonrise, to mobile devices next year.

According to Aaron Loeb, senior vice president of Kabam’s North American Studios, Moonrise is an open-world RPG “that will bring a truly next generation mobile experience to gamers around the world.” Set in a colorful fantasy world, Moonrise will task players with exploring a magical realm where an enigmatic event called the Moonrise turns peaceful Solari into savage Lunari. As a Warden, the player will need to cleanse hundreds of these creatures of their corruption, and then lead them into real-time battle against ferocious Lunari and other players around the world.

With an intriguing premise and a sophisticated battle system, Moonrise looks to be more robust and substantial than your standard mobile game. Moonrise will have its worldwide debut at the PAX Prime convention on Aug. 29 in Seattle, WA. A beta will be released this fall, and a full release is expected in early 2015 for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
