Just Cause 2 Creator Talks NYC Studio and Next-Gen Sandbox Games

Avalanche Studios recently created a division in New York City. It is one of the only major independent developers on the East Coast and they're focused on next-gen sandbox games.

Christofer Sundberg told Polygon about their expansion and plans for the future. There were many reasons for Avalanche to expand beyond Sweden, and one of which was to escape some competition for talent. "There are maybe 1500 developers in Sweden and 300 are at DICE [...] Competition has gotten quite unhealthy in Stockholm," Sundberg told Polygon.

When asked about some next-gen games, Sundberg was tight lipped, but did say, ""We'll have more to say in June." So, hopefully we'll be seeing some more high flying, action packed sandbox adventures from Avalanche Studios. Who knows, we might even get a Just Cause 3.
