Journey's universal theme of connection resonated at the Game Developers Choice Awards, as the game won in six categories. The title was honored with Game of the Year, Best Audio, Best Game Design, Best Visual Arts, Best Downloadable Game, and the Innovation Award.

There were other winners at the Game Developers Conference event, as Telltale Games' beloved title The Walking Dead won for Best Narrative.

Best Technology honors went to Far Cry 3. The Room, a game we absolutely loved, took home the prize for Best Handheld/Mobile Game. FTL: Faster Than Light, which received two prizes at the Independent Games Festival Awards, won in the Best Debut category.

BioWare Studios founders Dr. Greg Zeschuk and Dr. Ray Muzyka received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Spacewar! creator Steve Russell took home the Pioneer Award for his contributions to the gaming industry. PastPixels founder Chris Melissinos was given the Ambassador Award, an honor given to people, "who have helped the game industry advance to a better place."
